Welcome back to Tigers Taekwondo Term 3

 Hello Tigers Students and Families!

THANKS TIGERS INSTRUCTORS COVERING CLASSES
A huge thankyou to our Tigers Instructors and assistants for covering classes during Tim and Gary's absences last term.
Matt did a great job helping get the Dojang ready on Wednesdays - Gary F, Audrey and Raha (along with a terrific crew of assistants!) kept classes running smoothly at Macleod, whilst Georgia, Stef and Bruce did a great job looking after our Kinglake Dojang! Special thanks also to Gary F for coaching at the Raptors competition.

YMCA VENUE HIRE FEES INCREASE
The YMCA, after conducting a review and consultations with our club, has informed us of the necessity to raise our venue hire fees starting this financial year. Whilst Tigers Taekwondo feels very well supported by the YMCA, it means there will be a small increase in training fees for some of our members. Starting this term, our half-term training fees rate for students who attend once a week will increase from $75 to $80 per-half term - an increase of $1 per session. The training fees for students attending 2 or more sessions per week will remain the same rate. If you have any queries about our training fees please feel free to contact Tim.

TIGER WINS GOLD AT VICTORIAN SPARRING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Bruce Williams from our Kinglake dojang for an awesome competition result at the Victorian Autumn Open sparring championships! Bruce won all three fights convincingly, and scored with numerous spinning kicks to his opponents head and body - the highest value scoring techniques a fighter can use! Bruce managed to decisively defeat a rival he had previously lost to in the final as well - great job. A big shout out to Kazi, Tuan and the Schembri’s crew for looking after Bruce and coaching him on the day.

TIGERS AT RAPTORS INTERCLUB SPARRING COMPETITION
Congratulations to the Macleod Tigers competitors who attended the Raptor Taekwondo Interclub Sparring event! Each competitor had two matches, and the afternoon ran very smoothly.
Robert was up first and earned a well‑deserved silver - a great confidence moment for Robert, showing really impressive maturity. Liam came away with a bronze - his first match was against the eventual winner, but he rallied well to win his second. Brad won both his matches, moving well, landing strong techniques, and took gold. Brandon had the toughest draw, facing black belts. He didn’t get a win but landed a beautiful spin roundhouse in the final seconds of one round and a perfectly timed back kick in another.
Thanks to Gary Ford for coaching, and to Troy at Raptor Taekwondo and Zoe from Beaconsfield Taekwondo for another great interclub competition!

TIGERS STUDENTS AWARDED KUKKIWON BLACK BELT CERTIFICATION
As an instructor, there is no prouder moment than presenting Dan certificates to your students and witnessing the pride and confidence that come from their achievements. Congratulations to our new first Dan Black Belts - we couldn't be prouder!
Students awaiting their second Dan certificates haven't long to wait - the Kukkiwon has advised they are on their way!

TIGERS AT VICTORIAN POOMSAE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to our Tigers competitors on your fantastic efforts at the Victorian Open Poomsae Championships!
Family groups lead the way with Michael, Emilia, and Natalie winning Gold in the Family team division, and Gold Silver and bronze in Individual. Juni and Sohum won Bronze in family and Juni Silver in Individual. Daelan won Bronze, Gary a Silver in Individual and Gold in Pairs with Heather from Maryborough Martial Arts. Eden and Lahaina again had a very tough Black Belt division with very little separating all scores, but performed really well despite each making a couple of unforced errors. Thanks to Master Gary for his coaching on the day. Well Done All!

NEW CLUBWEAR ORDER DELIVERED
Our latest clubwear order was delivered just in time for the end of term, and it's awesome to see everyone rocking our fantastic club designs at competitions, events and at training! There may be enough interest for another order this year - the supplier requires a minimum order of 15 items, so please register your interest with Tim to secure your clubwear in the next order.
