RAPTOR FIGHT CAMP DEVELOPMENT SESSION
The last half of term 1 was action-packed for everyone at Tigers, with a solid crew from both Kinglake and Macleod attending the Raptor Taekwondo "Fight Camp" in Narre Warren along with Beaconsfield Taekwondo. This was a fantastic sparring development event that pushed everyone's mental and physical limits, building both resilience and endurance in preparing for Kyorugi competition!
ATV STATE MOOMBA CHAMPIONSHIPS
A strong but small team of Tigers students entered the ATV State Moomba Championships at the Parkville Stadium.Master Gary, although uncontested, scored a near-excellent 7.9! This is an important score, as all his results will count towards Gary's campaign to represent Australia once again at the world championships. Daelan won a very respectable Silver in Championship Poomsae against a "stacked field" of very good competitors after several rounds. Bruce fought in Cadet Open head kicks for the first time, and won his first match very decisively with a couple of spinning hook kicks, a textbook back kick to the face, and a very impressive jumping spinning roundhouse to his opponents helmet. A fantastic effort in his first ever Cadet Open final saw Bruce come away with a (rather heavy!) silver. Congratulations to all three of our Tigers competitors - a great start to our competition year!
CONGRATULATIONS TIGERS GRADING STUDENTS
After a couple of great days of student gradings we also conducted our first Tigers Taekwondo Black Belt gradings for 2026 on Sunday 29th March. A great spirit and focus was displayed by all who graded - and many were challenged in different ways. Everyone's essays were inspiring to read!
Congratulations to Will achieving his 4th Dan Kukkiwon, and to Raha, Daniel and Eden on achieving their 2nd Dan/Poom Kukkiwon Black Belts. We also welcome a brand new bunch of 1st Dan Kukkiwon Black Belts - Juni, Sohum, Natalie, Ella, Ellie, Lahaina and Maisam. Well Done All! Please view the attached grading video clip.
MASTER GARY AND MASTER TIM ABSENT
Master Gary and Master Tim will be absent for certain periods of next term. Gary is building his run towards competing at the next World Poomsae Championships and will be away for two qualifying events, also fitting a family holiday in between. Tim will also be away for a few weeks after an operation next term. Senior Black Belts will be covering classes during Gary and Tim's absences, supported by a team of black belt assistants.
