Tigers at Victorian Poomsae Championships
Congratulations to our Tigers students who completed at the ATV State Selection Championships at the Parkville Stadium today.
It’s awesome seeing our poomsae competitors putting in all the hard work and effort in preparation for this competition, including valuable cross training with our friends at Schembri’s Taekwondo.
Thanks to our parents for their support in getting their kids there, and especially to Mehmud for volunteering on computer duties all day!
Daelan and Rohan competed in the same division of eight players, the top four scoring a very good range in the low 7’s. Daelan won a Bronze with a 7.01, Rohan unfortunately scoring low in the division, even with a very respectable good range score of 6.33. Rohan has put a lot of effort into his practice and training, and improved a lot leading up to this competition.
Juni scored in the very good range with a 7.4 in her division against former adversaries, earning a bronze medal.
Lahaina score isn’t yet published, but she had a very big division of experienced players to contend with. Although missing out on a medal this time, Lahaina has made significant progression in her skills and training.
Maisam narrowly missed out on a medal with a good range score of 6.52, with an accidental two .3 deductions in his Chil Jang taking his score under the top three in his division.
Daniel was unwell and missed out on a medal this time, and had a tough black belt division against experienced players from the advanced WT division. Daniel still managed to perform with no major deductions, his score still yet to be published.
Sami’s score is also still TBA, but he narrowly missed out on a medal, coming 5th in a very tough black belt division, with most of his opponents also competing in the advanced WT divisions.
Eden won bronze with a 7.28 in the very good score range, in a very tough black belt division.
Raha won silver with a very good score of 7.51, also in a very tough black belt division.
Master Gary entered into an amazing four events, winning three gold medals and a bronze!
Gary competed in a team of 7 performing Jitae, winning gold. He also won gold in WT Pairs and Teams, with other instructors from Maryborough and Schembri’s Taekwondo. Gary’s very good score of 7.5 won the bronze in his individual WT division.
Well done to all our competitors, and thanks to ATV for another well-run competition!
